Event within the framework of Bird Day 2023

You are welcome to join the bird watching and winter feeder preparation event at Lake Babīte!

During the event, together with birdwatcher Imants Jakovļevs:

  • We will watch birds migrate to their wintering grounds in Southern Europe, Africa and Asia. We invite both experienced birdwatchers and beginners. Beginners will have the opportunity to rent binoculars for birdwatching, as well as receive birdwatching discounts.
  • Let's make a bird feeder for the winter, which you can take with you and place near your home. As we know, when the cold weather sets in, it is more difficult for birds to find food, and people need to help. Materials for making the feeder will be provided.

What should be considered?

To feel like a birdwatcher and get closer to bird life, everyone has the opportunity to observe spring and autumn migration, listen to bird songs, and watch the interaction of birds in and around the lake.

  • The season when birds are most active is from April to May and from August to September.
  • Birds are best observed 4 hours after sunrise or 2 hours before sunset.
  • Bird watching takes place on the shore of Lake Babīte from a 4-meter-high wooden house.
  • There's no need to wait for birds, we have many different ones.
